Ford Slashes Prices By Upto Rs 54000

Ford Slashes Prices By Upto Rs. The latest to join the price cut bandwagon is Ford India. The company has cut prices across the range to pass on the reduction in excise duty to the customers. Ford Fusion is now cheaper by Rs. while the Fiesta will cost Rs. to Rs. cheaper depending upon the variant. The biggest cut comes for the pricier Endeavour the price of which has been reduced by Rs. to Rs. . We are supportive of the government s action on reduction of CENVAT and see this as a welcome move. This will bring some relief to the Indian automotive industry in general. With that in mind we will be passing on the benefit of the duty cut to our customers Ford India President Michael Boneham said. The Dirt Listening to Ray LaMontagne is like getting a lesson in love a song just for you with a path laid out in a heartfelt genuine tone that melds the sounds of folk bluegrass and soul. LaMontagne s sound reminds us of simpler times we missed decades ago when the country was driven by another protested war and vital election. Amid a financial crisis that has turned our world upside down calming yet inspiring music can be a refuge. LaMontagne offers this. The Meg White track on his third album Gossip In The Grain has simple repetitive beats like some s folk rock songs with soft background singers that make for an ethereal sexy sound. It s ! songs like this one that remind us that the singer songwriter is still present content with the original idea that music was meant to be an art form first and a business second. Sarah is a modern update on the original folk sound and a demonstration of his storytelling ability. LaMontagne s range of sounds is evident on I Still Care For You where the use of pedal steel and synthesizer help create background sounds that mirror elements of Mazzy Star . Meanwhile Hey Me Hey Mama demonstrates what LaMontagne and company may refer to as front porch country but if we ve learned anything about the artist it s that his aim possibly above creating appreciated music is to avoid labels. And the track You Are the Best Thing proves classifications are unnecessary when uplifting songs come along. Perhaps we have the trumpet and guitar to thank for the accents or perhaps the cheery melody that speaks to the honest love that comes when a couple realizes that despite imperfections the perfe! ct match at the right time can mean all the difference in one s quest for happiness. We might refer to his work as an example of the departure from the shopping and technology oriented reality we often call home to a place where we have achieved enlightened simplicity. Records obtained by The News Gazette through the Illinois Freedom of Information Act show that Prussing spent on travel between January and ! July with trips to conferences in Charlotte N.C. Reno Nev. Miami twice Chicago twice Washington D.C. twice Los Angeles New Orleans San Francisco and New York City. Two of the conferences Prussing attended took place in December but were partially reimbursed in . Advertisement In contrast Champaign Mayor Jerry Schweighart took no major trips during that period. His travel bill consisted of in mileage reimbursement. I don t like to fly Schweighart said. I ve been to two conferences and I just don t find them to be that interesting. The News Gazette last month requested travel records for mayors and city council members in Urbana and Champaign. Records also show that Prussing frequently used her personal Lincoln Town Car for trips to Chicago Springfield and elsewhere instead of using a Toyota Prius hybrid provided by the city for the mayor. She was paid in mileage reimbursement for using her own car at a rate between . cents and . cents a mile instead of using the Prius a fuel! efficient hybrid whose only cost would have been for gasoline. A Toyota Prius sometimes driven by Urbana Mayor Laurel Prussing sits in a city parking lot in Urbana. By Darrell Hoemann Related content La Due Chynoweth are most traveled city council members I prefer to drive my own vehicle Prussing said. I bought the Town Car for highway driving. It s a very safe car and it s good for my back. It has a heated seat. Urbana s employee travel policy states that it is best to utilize city vehicles whenever possible with the wording underlined. The News Gazette counted the mileage reimbursement as part of Prussing s overall travel tab. Prussing said most of her travel is spent attending conferences associated with the U.S. Conference of Mayors the National League of Cities and the Illinois Municipal League. Records show she attended major conferences with the tab for nine of them exceeding . One trip to a National League of Cities event in New Orleans last November cost the city . Prussing said work related travel is usually beneficial. People learn! by talking to their peers she said. I think it s very important for groups to get together and talk about things. People get ideas from talking with other people. I think it s extremely worthwhile. It s part of your education. In fact Prussing said she wound up changing the city s negotiating strategy and tactics after attending a session on negotiating taught by a Syracuse University professor at a National League of Cities conference in late at Reno Nev. Prussing said she believes the change shortened contract negotiations with the firefighters union and saved the city as much as . There are real paybacks and they re measurable she said. The essence of the negotiating style adopted by the city she said was not just looking at who is going to win but looking at the long term relationship and the importance of being honest and fair with people. Two of Prussing s trips to San Francisco and to New York City occurred because she serves on the Conference of Mayors water counci! l which studies water issues. Those trips were cheaper than most less than each because the conference pays for her hotel expenses and the city just pays for airfare she said. Prussing said she encourages city staff and city council members to travel to conferences and conventions put on by professional associations. I m a big believer in people talking to their peers she said. I don t believe you save money by not talking to people and learning. Prussing also asserted that she saves the city money in many ways. She said she walks to work and thus doesn t drive the city owned Prius back and forth to her home. She said she drives the Prius on trips around town and also lets city staff use it. She said she doesn t use a city cell phone and that when she travels she usually eats the free hotel breakfast and her lunch is usually provided as part of the conference registration fee. She also noted that with the departure of former Urbana Chief Administrator Bruce Walden whom she didn t reappoint in she has been covering two jobs while the city conti! nues a lengthy search for a replacement. Physical culture 2012 organisers pledge to marry the arts with sport Guardian Unlimited

Musician Nitin Sawhney Lord Coe Cleveland Watkiss Scarlett Johnson Agnes Oaks Yinka Shonibare Soweto Kinch and Catherine Banner at the launch The powers behind London have promised that the arts will be at the heart of the next Olympic games with Sebastian Coe yesterday promising a clear and tangible cultural legacy for the whole nation . Launching the Cultural Olympiad Jude Kelly chair of culture ceremonies and education for the Olympics unveiled a series of cultural initiatives which will build over the next four years and culminate in a celebration of British creativity in the summer of . The Olympiad will not restrict itself to London but according to Kelly will embrace the whole nation . Nicholas Hytner the director of the National Theatre had said the event would offer an unprecedented opportunity to confirm London as the world s cultural capital . At Tate Britain Coe will take part in the Martin Creed sculpture Work later this month. The artwork involves a runner spri! nting along the length of the museum s Duveen Galleries. Coe chairman of the London organising committee of the games said I think my sprinting days are over it s likely to be more of a hobble. The major projects described by Coe as at an advanced yet flexible stage of planning include a World Shakespeare Festival which is to be spearheaded by the Royal Shakespeare Company and be centred on London Stratford upon Avon and Newcastle upon Tyne. The focus will be on international collaborations and the notion of Shakespeare as a world figure. Kelly said large scale international production of Shakespeare would be launched at the festival which will start on April Shakespeare s birthday. There will also be m devoted to a series of art commissions scattered throughout the country. Artists will this autumn be invited to submit proposals in any genre it could be a symphony in one region and a sculpture in another she said. The winning proposals will be announced next summer the wor! ks will be created over the following two years and then unveiled in . A festival of carnivals will take place in five cities in aiming to enliven the streets of London and other cities with parades parties massive communal picnics and street theatre according to Kelly. And an initiative called Sounds will celebrate music as a universal language in today s multicultural and multifaith UK . It will encompass a national singing day and an event in July involving a weekend of free music along the Thames. The Cultural Olympiad which at present has a budget of m which the organisers hope will grow as further sponsors come on board will kick off during the last weekend of this month when arts organisations up and down the country will declare open house. At the South Bank in London to year olds from south London will present dance performances. In Lincoln the Collection will stage a mini Greek games. The National Theatre will allow visitors behind the scenes to see the extraordinary puppets from its show War Horse. Critics have voiced fears that the! events may follow the pattern of the handover ceremony in Beijing which with its song and dance routine and its brief appearance by David Beckham was derided as kitsch in some quarters. Coe said It was a song a guitarist a bus and it was eight minutes long and I thought it was pretty good. We weren t out to produce G tterd mmerung or to produce an opening ceremony at someone else s closing ceremony. However he admitted that his postbag had released a large swell of creative thought from critical correspondents. The organisers of the Olympiad stressed that the arts were at the centre of the Olympic ideal as fleshed out by Pierre de Coubertin the founder of the modern movement. The Olympics is the wedding of sport and art he once said. In the early th century medals were awarded for art and music.
